Trunk Line is a blog Christian Sandvig created when he and I were fellows at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard. Christian and I were deeply interested in infrastructure as an area of study, and we brought in a collection of fellow obsessives to co-write the blog. (Here’s Christian’s first post in 2010. My first post talks about my infrastructure photography site on Flickr, which now has 5,381 photos and gets hundreds or thousands of visits every day.) Gradually, everyone else moved on; but I kept the fire going by throwing occasional logs onto it. Of particular interest to me is infrastructure that is in decline—especially over-the-air broadcasting. Much of my photography is of a documentary nature. I want the future to remember what this stuff was.
If anyone is interested in writing about infrastructure here on Trunk Line, write to me at my first (nick) name at my last name dot com.
